Gregory’s work examines identity, memory, and perception through layered compositions
that move between representation and abstraction. Rather than offering fixed narratives, his paintings operate in spaces of tension—
where opposing ideas coexist, overlap, and quietly contradict one another.
Figures, forms, and surfaces are constructed and disrupted simultaneously, inviting viewers to navigate moments of clarity alongside ambiguity.
Rooted in observation but resistant to resolution, Malphurs’ practice reflects an interest in how meaning is assembled over time—
through fragments, revisions, and subjective experience. The work asks viewers not simply to look, but to participate, completing the image through
their own associations and interpretations.
Gregory's work is collected all over the world including the United States, Europe, South America and Australia.
He works and lives in Joshua Tree.
